| Does anyone know of a good resource(web, book, other) that I could use setting up basic security on a new sql 2000 install.
Basically I run a small web hosting company and we would like to offer a SQL server backend to our clients, but I want the SQL server security to be setup correctly for this, i.e. the user has enough access to their db to add tables etc, but no access to other databases, including if possible very limited access to the master database. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Howard, Levy, and Waymire. Designing Secure Web-Based Applications for Microsoft Windows 2000. Microsoft Press, 2000.
This text mixed with the 'Inside SQL Server 2000' by Delaney et al should do the trick for you.
